SANTA CLA US

Worth Pole, December 8, 1920.

Mr. Jos. L. Hirsch, Care of "The Model."

Dear Friend Joe: Just received a letter from a Hammond party asking for a monkey for Christmas, but guess it will be impossible to comply with this j-equest. I used to give monkeys for Christmas presents, but the results are not so good. I left one at a fashionable home on South Hohman street one Christmas night and "Hank," as we called him, broke every electric light fixture in the house. Not satisfied with that, he got into the pantry and ate three mince pies and slammed pumpkin pie against the kitchen window. Then he went to the basement and choked the turkey gobbler to death. When the old man heard the commotion he got out of bed and went down to settle "Hank." In the meantime, Mr. Monkey had discovered a bottle of grape wine and was treating himself. Enraged at the old man's appearance he shot the bottle for a hit between the eyes, but it missed and Hank got a kick in the loin that put him out of commission, and he was caged and sent back to the North Pole by freight. Hank was such an uncultured gentleman that we returned him to the jungle-5 cf South Africa, and resolved never to give monkeys or dogs as Christmas presents again. Well, we have one more sled ready for the "Reindeer Special," this coach will contain nothing but ready-to-wear articles, as we have had thousands of requests for such things as Fur Caps, Silk Shirts, Gloves, Scarfs, Knitted Ties, Handkerchiefs, Hose, etc. The Grand Boola Boola will be buried tomorrow. His last request was that his warehouses full of rich gifts be turned over to Santa Claus. and it's going to mean so many gifts thi3 Christmas that we may have to run the Santa Claus Special in several sections, but of course Santa Claus will be at the head of the Special, and we expect this trip to be the most glorious ever attempted. Tell everyone you see to make upj their list of wants now. without delay, as we are gcttu: the Reindeer Special ready for the grand trip over the world the night of December 24. Sincerely, SANTA CLAUS. P- S. Please send me the list of those who want a bicycle.

SANTA CLAUS EXTRA News has just reached here that Santa Claus is swamped with orders. He advises all Hammond people to be sure to place their order for a genuine Melo Harp Piano with the Straube Piano and Music Co., not later than December 20, and he will make the deliveries when he arrives in Hammond on Christmas Eve. We hasten to publish the news. Santa likes the factory-to-home way of selling Pianos, and he thinks he made a sensible choice when he chose us to assist him.
