DAILY LETTER From SANTA CLAUS
North Pole. lt ' December 1, 1920. Mr. Henry Misener, Hammond, Ind. : Dear Friend Henry : our letter of the 1 5th was delayed about two weeks on account of a severe blizzard that covered the trails eight to twelve feet deep. The North Pole went over in the storm, breaking off near the ground. Mrs. Santa and I narrowly escaped serious injury, as the huge thing fell three feet from our home. We are short.of help just now. but we expect to get the Pole back up again before we leave here with reindeer train of gifts. In my letter to Mc. Horton yesterday. I related a couple of meadents in connection with last Christmas. Now Henry. I want some smooth sailing this Christmas, and there is one thing I want you to do for me. Tell the tower man there, near the corner of State and Hohman streets, to keep the crossing clear, as one hour's delay will spoil my program altogether. I see that Hammond has grown considerably since last Christmas, and of course I will be pretty busy. I will be ableto get around faster by coming in the back door, instead of the chimneys. Tell everybody to keep their doors locked, as I have a patent key that will unlock any door on earth.. It was sent to mc by a great inventor in South America as a present. .Now that was a practical gift, and I am going to make all my gifts this year practical gifts. Fl! bring candy, too, as I always have done. Give my regards to all the dear children and tell them to wait patiently. Very sincerely, SANTA CLAUS.o"
