According to witnesses to the tragedy, Mrs. Kasterek was carrying a small child in her arms and was holding little John by the hand when the accident occurred. As Mrs. Kesterek passed behind ono car she stepped directly in front of another car. She Jumped to safety with the babe in her arms, but the child stumbled on some, paving brick and fell headlong under the wheels of the car.
