PAST GRANDS FOR GARY
On Friday. Nov. 5. the Fast Grands afsociation No. 1. of Lake county I. O. O. F.. will confer the First Degree upon a large class of candidates from all over the county at Steel City ledge. The degree work will start promptly at S p. m. and at 9:30 p. in. there will be a social hour and short talks by fiate and county officers. There is a movement on foot to hold a past grands nisht annually in each of the tn Iak county I. O. O. F. lodges, leaving July and August open. At these meetings degree work will be conferred anl to which all the lodges will bo invited, whether they have candidates or not. The plans are still to be worked oyj !V detail and will be ready for the approval of the men officers who will be elected In January.

The only precinct in which the democrats ran proportionately high vas the fifth, home of John Tokarz. democratic candidate for auditor. W. J. Murray, democratic: candidate for prosecutor, probably made hi.s" greatest showing in Whiting's first precinct. There he ran 216 votes ahead of Cox. He received 436 votes while Kinder had 5S6.
