I didn't want to run for office, but took the nomination for prosecutor on the Democratic ticket with the understanding that if Mr. Thomas, Mr. Br.emmer or Mr. Burns received the Republican nomination, for prosecutor I would not make a campaign and would not cause the Republican candidate to spend one nickel of his money, one hour of his time, or make one promise to the undesirable element in order to be elected, and that I would ask my Democratic friends to vote for him. When the primaries were over I was urged by a large number of Republicans as well as Democrats to make a campaign in the interest of good citizenship and a clean county. If you are in favor bf those two essentials to good government, I solicit your support. If you are not I do not want it.
