BASEBALL JOB OFFERED 10 LANDIS INTERNATIONAL NEWS SERVICE1 CHICAGO. Oct. 22 Judgre Kenc-saw M. Iandi-. of the f. S. district court here, win be or-- ... bip of the Monal Baseball commission at a
w mi'",1 . I IB gay f salary of $25,000 per year. It was admitted here today by Alfred Austrian, attorney for both the Chicago American and Chicago National Lcaguo clubs. Austrian declared that the offer had not been made to Judge I.andia, but other reports said the position - had been tendered and accepted. This later rumor, however, could not b.; confirmed. "I will not deny." Austrian said, "that an offer is contemplated. Judg? Land is has been mentioned frequnetly as an Ideal man for the place." Austrian's statement bears weight because of h.is position as attorney for leading baseball interests. Judge Landls if the offer is made and accepted, would succeed Garry Herrman. president of the Cincinnati ciub. Herrmann reigned cveral months ago and the position has been vacant since then. It Is regarded likely, however, that the o!Tr will not be definitely made to Judge Landis until the dispute which threatens to result In a new
alignment of major league clubs is settled. The special grand Jury investigating; alleged corruption In baseball resumed its deliberations today. Press reports nere current that indictments would be icted against several players formerly in the major leagues and against several gamblers. Most of tho witnesses before the fcrand Jury today however, were quizzed regarding baseball pools.
