WILL SUE CITY TO GET STOLEN BONO Mail Who Lost $200 Has Gone into Court to Recover
The stolen $290 cash tond mhlch has been troubling1 official Kast Chicago for the past three years again bobbed up yesterday when City Attorney Ciites notified tho board of works that the city was about to be sued for the $200. The money was gien as cash bond after a man had been arrested as a deserter in December of 1317. He. was later released and sent to camp but has never been able, to get his money back although he has made repeated demand?. An investigation showed that the money had diseppeared from the poiica safe but the responsibility for its loss could not be determined although on of the police sergeants left the city and has not returned. The city council not long- ago appro-pri.-C'd $2no to reimburse, the man but the siate board of accounts refused to a'lc.v payment and now an effort will be made to secure the money by suit. It ip probable that the city will not attempt to defend the suit in order that th man may a once get the money which rightfully belongs to htm. Tho board of works instructed the vter company to place a fire plug on Euclid avenue between llt'.h and 145th streets f-r adequate protection of the General American property, the South Phor company reported they were unable at this time to pave their right of wav on Euclid avenue and the fire-
