Bud worked mostly on TfUy's stomach and repeatedly landed h s left with good effect. Then ho varied with a few rights t3 the tace an 3 head so that ha won by a good rr.a-.-in. The preliminary six rounds made a go-,d starter for the show. Phil Milo substituted for Special Delivery Hirsch ega'nst Andy Williams and put up a ol fight although he lost by a very narrow margin. Both men tried for knockout in every round, daing very little boxing but slugging freely. Neither had the advantage until th? lat round when Milo received a bad cut over the right eye which covered b ..th fighters with gore. The plans for the winter fights are r.ot very definite as yet although the management is contemplating building a new structure in the correr cf the vll park near the box office. was Thorns.

The Thorns scored their touchdown in tn third quarter by two forward passe?, one of which was good for thirty yards and by driving off tackle. The Standard Oil boys usually succeeded in keeping the Thorns from completing their forward passes. Not more than one in six was successful. Johnny Sharp recovered a couple ot Thorn fumbles and the Red Crowns

the profited thereby. I In the second quarter McShana tried

a drop-kick from the 5 yard line but failed. Eddie Pond saved Whiting from a predicament at the close of the first quarter. The Thorns lost the ball on Whiting's one yard line. Pond signalled for a punt, but the pass was poor and as the Thorns broke through Pond not having time, to punt, circled the end for a gain of twelve yards. And then the Bed Crowns were out of the danger zone. The lineup: Red Crowns R. E., Martin-Daeg-ling: R. T.. Sutherland: F. G.. Sharp: C, Littlejohn: L. G . , M. .Adams-Turner; L. T.. O. Slater: B. How It Grows WHEN fifteen telephones are added on a street on which there are 100 telephone users, an additional distribution cable maybe necessary. When the same thing happens on six or eight nearby streets, served from the same cable terminal, there must be new main cables from terminal boxes to the exchange. Such increases from several localities sopn call for additions to switchboard arid terminal room facilities. Finally a new exchange with its costly equipment, must be built, and extensive re-distribution made of the outside plant. These are some of the elements which enter into the cost of supplying telephone service to growing communities. CHICAGO TELEPHONE COMPANY
