The young- lady played several selections thinking her father was listening, but finally turned around and foiuid him sitting In the chair dead. The deceased Is a well known Whiting man and Is survived by his widow and sim children. He was a member of th-i First Catholic Slovak union. Miss Ruth Danforth of Chicago was 'he guest f Miss A. Mrs. Marry Conroy of 119th street is improving at the Mercy hospital in Chicago. The women f Whiting are urged to remember the date of 'Monday. Oct. 4. on which occasion thry must resteer or loe their vote in Xoccmber. It was a long fight to gain the right of suffrage in Indiana and the women should make the most of it, this their first opportunity to appear at the polls. 'Mrs. 1 M. Rogers of Central avenue was removed to the Fresbyterian hospital again on Wednesday, where she had been previously confined for a number of week.. Mr. and Mrs. Divan of Sheridan avenue have returned from their vacation which they spent in Wisconsin. Richard Kleiber of 119th street has returned to Howe. Ind., to resume his studies at Howe collrse. Mr. and Mrs. John Sharp, nee Ruth Glodden. have gone to house keeping in their flat on Oliver street, having been residing at the home of Mr. Sharps sister. Mrs. Elmer Bauer.

Little Adeiine Kiser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Kiser, is confined to her home on Roberts avenue with the mumps and is getting along nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Hollls Hunter of 116 street visited the former's mother of Hammond, who is very ill and under the care of a trained nurse. Mr. and Mrs. Charley Ness of Indianapolis "Blvd., left the forepart of this week for their vacation which they will ppend visiting relatives at Buffalo and Rochester, N. T. Mr. Nelson Stauffer of Marlon, Ind.. is visiting his daughter. Mrs. W. Broderick and family of Atchison avenue, for a few weeks.

Mrs. J. Dudicar is getting along nicely at hor home on Amy avenue after an operation for appendicitis a few weeks ago at the St. Bernard's hospital. Eric Petersen, son of Mrs. Peterson of Roberts avenue, is very ill at his home at East Side, with a case of typhoid fever. Mrs. Kd Currin of Hammond, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Market of Myrtle avenue, the (ore part of this week. Mrs. W. Johnson of Atchison avenue was a Chicago visitor on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs., John Smith of Winsor park, visited friends in Whiting and Robertsdale lat Tuesday. Miss Lillian Wlchorst of the West Park addition has excepted a position ir the ten cent store at Whiting. Mrs. .John Klaul and infant daughter returned from the St. Margaret's hospital about a week ago and she and her husband are i-taying at the home of Mr. Blaul's parents on Roberts avenie until Mrs. Raul regains her strength when thry will return to their home in Hammond. Mr. and Mrs. Roy MoSre and sons left Tuesday for MUrnark, Mo., where they will spend a two weeks vacation visiting the former's parents and on their return will stop for a few day;; at St. Louis with an aunt of Mrs. Moore's.

Un visited in the Zuvers home last Wednesday. Married at the M. E. parsonage In Merrillville, Sept. 29. Mr. Edward R. Mayer of Gary, Ind., and Miss Evelyn Welsh, Griffith, Ind., attended by he brother and sister of the bride and Eroom and they will make their home at the bride'a home in Griffith, Ind. Carl Gerlach of East Gary was in town last Tuesday. Mrs. Mat Innarti and daughter. Mary of Chicago Heights, left last Saturday for Montana, they received a telegram stating that the little granddaughter. Florence Towl, and the mother. Mrs. Martha Ijennarti-Towl, were in the hospital very sick. There will be some changes in town in the near future, Mr. Welshes people will return to Gary and Mr. and Mrs. Erneat Walters will return to their old home again and George Ixye ujll move to Gary and Mr. and Mrs. Ieslie Walter will occupy the Loyce home.

Hathaway aged 10 years, and John Gilbertson. aged 14. who had run away from their homes mi Chicago Sunday and had-stolen a bicycle which they sold at Gary. Mr. Hathaway was notified and he came to Hobart that afternoon and took the boys home with him. A dance will be held at the Community hotel Saturday evening.
