IN ILUNOIS IS DOUBTFUL
'INTERNATIONAL NLWS SERVICE CHUWiiO, fi.t. 1. The result of yesterday's primnrios in Illinois is still in doubt parly today, so far as the miicr candidate 3 are concerned. Nominari. ns the n public. 111 ticket for ijoxfrnor and V. S. senator will not be i'.u'ii.itcly known until more complete returr.s are available and the fiyht for democratic nomination for C S. senator Is still uncertain. Tne only sure winn r IS former Senator James Hamilton Lewis, who unquestionably has won the ; : mocr-itic nomination for governor. Returns from 2.255 precincts out of r.TOT in Illinois give Lcn Small 127.235 votes to 126. 82$ for John G. Ogles-by in the tight for the republican gubernatorial nomination. Congressman Yil!iam E. McKinley U ok ihe lead in the race for V. S. t-cnator early today when returns from 2.1SS precincts in the state gave him 110.6S.2 votes to 117.053 for Frank L. Smith. It is certain the so-called "Tammany" faction of the republican party, headed by Mayor William Halo Thompson of Chicago, overwhelmingly defeated the "regular" republicans, headed by Gov. Krank O. Lowdcn in Chicago. The Thompson ticket, headed by Small for governor and Smith for senator, apjarent'.y has carried Chicago by approximately 100.000 votes. Leaders of the Lowdcn faction, however, predice
that the "down state" vote will wipe cut this advantage, and with mora than hai! the precincts still to be heard from, refusa to concede defeat. Tho Thompson ticket carried for all Chicago and Cook county e(Tlces. but tho result in most of the fights for state offices is still in doubt. In 95S precincts Robert E. Burke has received 1S.901 votes for the democratic nomination tor U. S. senator while his opponent. Feter A. Valor h-is IS. 151. Kour republican members of congress and one democratic congrt ; man apparently have met defeat. The republicans are Niels JujI. Carl II. Chin.lbloom. Win. W. Wilson and Ira C. Cope!y. The democrat is Congressman Thomas Gallagher. The fate of "'Undo Joe" CCannon. former speaker of the U. S. Is In doubt on the fact oT present returns as is also that of Congressman Wm. A. Kodenbcrg of East St. Louis. SLEEPS ANY OLD WAY NOW I am 50 years old and never wa3 sick until 8 years ago when I got stomach" trouble. I have spent a fortune for medicine which did not cure. The old saying, '"the bedbug has no teeth, but they get there Jut the same," is correct.
