Cucumbers for the Toilet The cucumber seems a very homely x-egetab!e indeed to use on the toilet table, but it makes an excellent foundation for creams and lotions. The coolness of the cucumber is notorious, and its use for toilet preparations gives them a cooling Quality. t Cucumber cream is made in this way: Heat four ounces of almond pil in a double boiler. Add one ounce each of spermaceti and white wax. When melted beat till almost cool. To this mixture add two tablerpoons cucumber juice and beat untii Quite cold.
Massaging the Hand Shapeliness of the hands can be increased greatly by massage. In
I massaging the bands, the movement j is directly opposite from the move
ment in massaging the face. The movement should be downward, toward the finsrer tips, or across. In
'this massaging, a small amount of i olive oil is very effective, un'ess the
hands are especially oily naturally, m which case vaseline is better used.

Polished Rice Natives of China who lived almost exclusively on a diet of polished rice were found to be frequent victims of scurvy. This was due to the fact that the process of polishing rice deprived ,t of vitamines, the life-giving element without which growth is impossible. Be careful, therefore, to buy inpolished rice, brown rice being the . ery best kind as practically none ol ;he vitamines are lost.
