Hammond Post No. 16 of the American Legion held a meeting last evening at their club rooms on Stale st . It was the largest and best meeting ever held since the organization of the Post. There is plenty of money now to do things right. It is their intention to make extensive decorations in the home so that when completed the hall will be one of the best clubs in town. Every one was enthusiastic about, building the Legion up to one hundred per cent in Hammond. All ex-service men are welcome to come up there at all times. They are going after the Victory Medals and all ex-service men who have those medals coming to them, should get in touch with the Legion and they will be helped to get them. It Is hoped to have the medals for presentation in Armistice Day. The League of Women Voters will meet in the G. A. R. rooms in the court hous tc morrow evening at 8 o'clock. The first forty minutes will be devoted to class work, conducted by AV. J. AVhinery. after which Atty. Clyde Cleveland will talk on the registration law. Howard Gesoheidler, City Democratic Chairman, will give a list of the offices that are to be filled this year and the names of th" candidates on the t'wo leading tickets. U. convention met at the Baptist church yesterday afternoon for a business meeting. Mrs. I. M. Grlndle, president of the AA'hitlng AN'. C. T. U. was present. It was decided to have two thousand banners printed, with "AVelcome Stranger" with which to decorate the city for the convention. Meetings will be held at the church each Tuesday afternoon at 2.30 until the convention. Mrs. J. C. Graves entertained the Monday Night Club last night at her home, 122 Carroll st.
