Mr. Charles E. Potts of Indiana Harbor Has Heeri elected president of the Cosmopolitan Theatre Corporation and the new Columbia Theatre of Michigan Avenue which has been run successfully for a number of years under the management of Mr. Potts will be taken over by the new Corporation, rebuilt, and turned into a magnificient house of rare- music and moving picture entertainment. V This will give Indiana HarKor two magnificient places of amusement, second to none in this part of the state. The new Columbia will have a seating capacity of about eleven hundred and the proposed Cosmopolitan Theatre on Cedar Street will seat sixteen hundred people. Both houses will entertain the citizens of this community in comfort. All those who have Been privileged to enjoy entertainment in first class places of amusement will fully realize what it will mean for Indiana Harbor to have two beautiful theatres of this kind. Such houses have not only been a success in giving entertainment to the public, but have been the greatest financial success of any business corporation in the past three years. . . The officers of tKe Cosmopolitan Theatre Corporation feel that the business men of Indiana Harbor will benefit immensely by the operation of these two theatres because it is a well known fact that thousands travel to neighboring communities daily in order to partake in some amusement after a hard day's toil. Many thousands of dollars annually spent in fare to and from Chicago by those seeking amusement can be utilized in purchasing necessities at home. It cannot te expected that capital outside of Indiana Harbor would bear the entire burden to give this community a consideration of this kind. They, therefore, under careful organization, guarantee every business safeguard to investors and are asking citizens in this community to purchase a part of their stock. Surely, there are many citizens in Indiana . Harbor and surrounding communities who should be pleased to invest in an industry to which the American public pays $800,000,000 a year. If the local community will respond, the greater amount of the necessary finances will be forthcoming from other sources. We feel sure that any investment made in this institution will bring returns in keeping with the very best of investments. The corporation will proceed promptly and give Indiana Harbor an institution that will be appreciated more than anything that has ever been attempted in this community.
