The east bound Esex made the trip from New Tork to Pan Francisco in 4 days. 14 hours and 43 minutes. It broke the previous record by 12 hours and 45 minutes. Tho bound car made the trip in 4 days, 19 hours and Kminutes. The run from New Tork to Chicago was made In 2 4 hours and 60 minutes. which is an hour and 10 minutes better than any previous record. ARREST FOUR ON GAMBLING CHARGE i Hammond police pulled another raid on the Hammond L,hor temple Saturday evening and arrested four on charges of gambling They were H. S. COLLIDES WITH A DERRICK Mike Pvtnhen, SSJ2 Buffalo avenue. South Chicago, collided with a derrick belonging to the Chicago Telephone company while driving along Indianapolis boulevard, east of the Wolf river bridge Sunday evening. There were no warning lights' on the.' derrick which was standing near a hole in the street. Svenhen's car was badly damaged, but none of the occupants were injured. Tire Theft Reported. H. E. Evans, proprietor of a tire re-pair shop at Sohl and Sibley streets, Hammond, reported this morning that burglars had entered his place Saturday night or Sunday and carried away eight casings and nineteen inner tubes.
