Smith and daughter Shirley, will leave on Saturday for Newcastle Pa., where they will visit with Mr. and Mrs. Joyce Huron for a couple .of weeks The members of the different classes f the Kresby terian church will enjoy a picnic at the Fair Grounds Saturday. The affair will be a pot lunch and will last all day. Miss Emma Koch of Milwaukee, a relative of the Sauerman families of this city, visited with them and also Hiss Hannah ;Black for feveral days. Miss Koch visited Crown Point frequently several years ago, but this Is her first visit here for some time. MiM Millie Volk is enjoying her annual vacation from the l.etz Manufacturing Co., this week. Mrs. Julia Horst and Miss Margaret Cook went to H: ntinsrton on Wednesday to visit ith friends for a few (lays. Sliss Louise Crawford of Chicago will y.ng at the band concert on Thursday evening griwn by the Gary Municipal band An attractive program has been arranged and Miss Crawford's singing will be an added attraction. H Wheeler and Mr. Joseph Rrown attended a meeting of the Lake County Council of tne American Red Cross at the Lyndora Hotel in Hammond on Tuesday evening- The purpose of the meeting was to discuss plans for cinouetirg the coming Membership Roll
Call. Mr. Starr Cadwallader of Cleve land, Ohio, Division Manager and Mr. Dickson, director of fhe Roll Call were present. In urging the need of enrolling as many member a posible, Mr. 'Jul idi Pdfr said. "The Red C.rss w.ri: did not end wit the war bu'. j still going on all over the world and chapters are urged to double their membtrship as the funds to carry on the work are henceforth to be derived from the membership dues of $1.00 a member. The Red Cross is still at work in Poland and many of the Balkan states and in thtir work over there they are doing a great service for this country in the way of keeping back typhus and many other menaces which exist in these countries." $l.oo is a small sum to give in such a rau.w but in the giving of it we are made a part of tie great work going on. The local woik at the present time consists larstly in services for the soldiers and in this1 the Red Cross co-operates with the government and is able to bring about many benefits for some of these men that v'.uld rut get otherwise, in the way of Vocational Education. Compensation and War Risk Insurance. The Ti d Cross is the one World-Wid organization whose object is service to humanity and we can all be a part of this great organization for $1.00. Th.' The bride was attired in a gown of white georgette crepe, the maid cf honor. Charlotte Kasten, wore peach colored organdy and the bridesmaid. Ha.zel Rosenbaum wore blue organdy. The -ushers were Frank Phrailkill ami Theodore Mavity. The house was beautifully decorated in pink and white and a delightful five course luncheon was served . There were a number of out-of-town guests present . Hazel and Ivadelle Green attended a dinner party last night given by Dr. and Mrs. Dona.ld Atwell. of Chicago, to announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Louise. Mrs. F. K. Hof r and son. Mrs. Mcl Griesel of Chicago is visiting relatives in Ioweil. Henry Peterson, who is working oia the railroad met with a rather serious and a peculiar accident yesterday morn ing. He went to stick a pick into a tie and he struck the rail with th:pick and a splinter flew off the rail, striking him in the neck, cutting quite a gasn. It was necessary to take three stitches in the wound. The Misses Neva Dickinson. Mamie Nichols. Ida Deathe and Thelma H:ll, are at Lake Geneva, Wis., for a couple of weeks' outing. The bankruptcy order for the American Road Plane Inc., was set aside by Judge Norton, of the Lake Circuit court and Fred Schmal was again resumed hia duties as receiver for the Btock-holders . Stock is being sold for the purchase of the Nichols elevators in Loweii, Shelby and Dinwiddle. The stock is being readily subscribed for and it i.-i thought it will all be disposed of within the next few days.
