Republicans Are Arranging For Pilgrimage

Quite a gathering: of prominent republicans of Lake cmnty hTld a meeting; at the Republican h-adquai ten at 624 Broadway in Gary t. perffvt plans for the proposed pilgrimage to Marion. O.. to visit Senator AVarren G. Harding. The republicans of I-aVe county had Intended to make an auto tour to Marlon hut because of the great distance, they decided to charter special coaches and make the journey by rail. 1 At the meeting last Friday veiiinp. Attorney John B. Kennedy of East Chicago waa chosen chairman of the committee vho have the proposed pilgrimage In charge. John McCahe of Whitins. who Is chief pa?re of house of representatives and who is assisting County Chairman John KilllRrew In the conducting of the republican campaign, was chosen as secretary or the committee in charge of the trip. plan to leave Ike county on the evening of the 27th and arrive in Marion, O.. the next morningr. As soon i"s they has visited with Senator Harding-, they will board the train and start for home. Mr. Harding's enthusiastic supporters in Lake county have planned to have a couple of brass bands accompany them on the trip to add pep to the-ceremonies. Representative republicans from every part of Lake county attended the meeting in Gary and appointed themselves on a committee as a whole to advertise the event In their respective, localities in order that all that desire to eo may be notified of the proposed pilgrimage. Those who desire to make reservation for the trip may communicate with John B. Kennedy of East Chicago or with John V.. McCabe at 621 Eroadway, Gary. It is expected that many republicans from this locality will make the trip and the republican leaders of Lake county say they expect to have by the 27th an entire train load of Harding supporters to maki the pilgrimage to Marion to vi.-it Senator Harding on his front porch.
