MiSKIN CA

IS POSTPONED

From evidence introduced in the hearing of the case of Vasso Miskin. well known Gary Serb, but now residfiU of Hobart before Judge Dunn in the Gary city court, this morning, it is evident that Fatrol Sergeant Paniejson of the Gary police will be exonerated of tha charges preferred by MiHkin. According to Sergeant Panielson he found Miskin in an intoxicated condition at 19th avenue and Broadway shortly before 2 o'clock last Tuesday morning and when Miskin refused to state the r.ature, of his business and his name and address at that hour of the morning. Sergeant Dsnielson told him he would have to take him to the station. It ia BaJd that Miakin was in a quarrel 6nme mood and even resisted arrest and in the acuffle Miskin fell striking his hei on the sidewalk and injured himbelf. This injury Miskin claims wns caused by rani!pon hitting him over the head with a policeman's club. Miskin, who is on trial for being intoxicated, stated that he hadn't been 3rirkins and that he was manhandled by the officers. Witnesses for the state, however, testified that Miskin was intoxicated in fact one witness stated that Miskin was awfully drunk and when looked at the station refused to give rrs name or address and was then lodged lr. jail for the night. The case was continued this morning til Monday when Miskin wil lbe given an opportunity of halng his witnesses Iresnt to testify. The case has aroused considerable attention as the Serb colony of the city have taken a stand In Miskin's defonse and have even asked that Sergeant Panielson be discharged from the force. This is not very likely, however, as Sergeant Itanielson ii considered one cf the best and level headed men on the department and a most efficient officer.
