The difficulty in this instance concerns the proposed contest between "World's Heavyweight Champion Jack Pcmpsey and Hilly Miske at Benton Harbor on I-ibor day. Promoter Iloyd Fitrsimmons thought he, had this match closed, but onlythought so. it turns out. because Jack Kearns, who manager Pc-mpsey, seems to think otherwise. That nukes it a case of think vs. think, with Kearns and Pempsey holding the ace up the sleeve. TXTZ OOES EAST That the hitch is a disturbing one is evidenced by the fact that Fltzsimmons. after receiving a telegram from Kearns. who is in New York, hotfooted it out of Benton Harbor yesterday, the object being to meet up with Kearns just as quickly as possible. Kearns asked Fitz to see him at once, and that's what Fit is going to in. Fitzsimmons last night stated emphatically that Pempsey and Miske would battle I-vbor day. as he announced a few days ago. It may be necessary for the promoter to came across with more coin or a larger percentage than the $50,000 and 60 per cent privilege, previously announced. If he is forced to do that he probably will "cough" rather than see his attraction cancelled. The Brewers won 3 to 2 over the Saints. Mostil, credited with luck as well as ability, made a remarkable catch in center field and quashed the hopes of the Indianapolis fans for victory. E LOWELL FAST The Twin City K. of C. baseball team traveled to Lowell, Ind., and wer defeated by the Lowell city team. 3 to 2. The Ixvell fans stated that it was the fastest game they had seen there this year. Galik twirling for the Knseys scored three runs on two hits and three errors, after that they were helpless and could not score, but the Kaseys fighting hard to the last ditch, could only score two runs.
