BIG CHICAGO IN VISIT HARDING 1,000 Mansfield Friends To Bear Down on Republican 'candidate on Saturday
BY BART CAMTBELX. 'STFF CORRESPONDENT I. N SERVICE! MARION. O.. July 29 Senator barren G. Harding, republican nomine for president, sat down to & good oldfashioned breakfast of ham and eggJ and "trimmins-' at S o'clock with a delegation of about fifty from Chicago headed by Frederick "V. Vpharo, republican national treasurer: Brig. Gen. Nathan McChesney and Charles riez. formerly of the shipping board.
Mrrvnv was vice-chairman
Gen. Leonard Wood's pre-convention national campaign committee. He as
sured Senator Harding that "Wood men throughout the country were working hard for the success of the republican
twt and "with their sleeves rolled
up." Tha breakfast was served at the Marlon club. The Chicago delegation arrived here at 6:30 via the Erie, but the earliness of the hour did not pre
vent Senator Harding from being at i
the club house to meet those composingIt when they proceeded there from the union station. Other visitors Senator Harding was scheduled to have during the day were former secretary of the treasurer. Leslie M. Shaw; Col. Charles E. Warrei. of Detroit, who wa sa supporter of Gov. Lowden's pre-conventlon campaign, and C. C. Favey. a Columbus. O. attorney heading a small delegation from that city. Most of the day. however. Senator Harding rlanned to devote to the preparation of the short speech he is to deliver Saturday from the front porch of his Marion residence to about 1.0'0 residents of Mansfield, Shelby and other sections of Richmond county. O. who are to journey here by train, electric car, automobile and yes,"" aeroplane. . At least two aeroplanes will bring several persons cross-country to Marlon. A woman Is expected to pilot one of them. Senator Harding's speech will be more of an Ohio than a national one. It is said, a heart to heart talk w-ith the "home folks" of his own state, the first of its kind he has made since he told his fellow citizens of Marion how greatly he appreclted the enthusiastic home-coming they gave him.
MAC ICLURE HAPPY IN HOI SECTOR
Sergeant Bob Cramer Meets An Old Friend Who Is Still Young, However. In the spring of 1317. soon after the United States had declared war against Germany, a group of army recruits gf oft the train at Fort Wayne, then tha distributing point for casuals. Sergeant Bob Cramer, head of the local army recruiting office was at that time on recruit duty in Fort Wayne. He happened to be at the gates of th.i railroad station when the recruits came through on April 30, 1917, and mon; them he saw a lad in knee pants. Those were strenuous days. Boys were a nonentity. Cramer, sighting the stripling called out to him to be
off. The lad replied that his name was McClure. that he was from Hammonl. that he had enlisted and that he was GENUINE TASTELESS CASTOR OIL ALWAYS

Sold by all good druggists. If you want a castor oil absolutely without nauseating taste, insist on geunine laboratory filled bottles, plainly labelled Kellogg's Tasteless Castor Oil. But he never forgot the incident and one may conjecture his surprise when the selfsame McClure stepped into his offici here In Hammond recently wearing two wound stripes and with an order in his hand from army headquarters at Indianapolis stating that- McCur, the youthful veteran, had been assigned to Hammond on recruit duty. Today Mac McClure who looked death in the face at Soissons is happy. He has been assigned to tha "home sector." His partyits live at 493. 150th street. With the addition of McClure and Sergeant Brinks to the local office Sergeant Cramer hopes soon to have a 100 per cent veterans' organization on duty here.
