Mr. Lewis agreed with the decision of the "Gary city council who specined an eignt cent fare at their meeting on Monday night. SENATE MAY PASS THREE BILLS TODAY Fate of KipeT "Cure All" Tax Bill Remains to be Ascertained Later in Day INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.. Jlly'23. Probability e-f passage of three Import

ant measures by the enate today and consequent possibility of adjournment of the special session of the general assembly tomorrow night loomed today when the legislature settled down, for its eleventh day's work. Tha three bills marked for passage are: Soldier memorial measure, with pos

sible amendments

Johnson home rule tax bill with minor changes. Coal commission bill. Senate republicans, in caucus last night agreed upon the home rule bill, it is understood with minor amendments to the measure as passed by the houaa. - it: Majority members caucused again today and it as stated that the memorial bill was marked for passabe before tonight's recess. "Whether or not it is intended to raise the $2,000,000 aprropriatlon called for by the house bill was not made known. The original plan was for a $10,000,000 appropriation. No difficulty is to be encountered in putting over the coal commission bill, minority members letting it be known they would not oppose suspension of the fules for" the passage of all three of the emergency measures. - One big question remained to be cleared up when the session convened today the fate of the Kifer "cure-all" tax bill, the senate substitute for the house bill legalizing the action of the state board of tax commissioners in making horizontal lax assessment increases. The Kifer bill was being threshed out In caucus and no word was forthcoming

as to its probable fate.
