Great progress ha been made in preparing the road for the Elgin automobile road race, which is to take place on the old course. August 14 Instead of August 21, as previously announced. The advance in the date is to accom odate the racing men so they may have ample time to fix up their mounts after the Elgin Vnd not be delayed in getting to- the Cniontown speedway for the Labor ay meet there. The east, north and west legs of the course are now In the pink of condition; in fact better than any portion of the course in previous years. There is some work to be completed on the cuth leg. but that Is better than at any time heretofore. As oon as the dragging of the south leg is complete; 39,001 gallon of road
