made by the state board of tax commissioners last year illegal. While there is yet some hope that this matter can be disposed of this week by the working- out of some agree ment between the two branches the chances for such, an early agreement are slim. Even should the matter progress with unusual speed it is not believed that the tax assessment bill tv I be ready for the governor's sisnature before Friday night or Saturday. ROW OTEB MEMORIAL. BILL. The disagreement bewteen the senate and the Jjouse on the tax legislation is just as manifest in regard to the state world war memorial measure. The determination of the house o cut the appropriation for this project from 110.000.000 is being met with an equal determination on the part of the members of the 6enate to pive the full amount called for in the , bill. When the memorial bill is considered by the tipper branch it is predicted by some of the members that tha house action will be changed. As the question of the memorial. Insofar as it re!ates to the amount which should be appropriated at thl3 time, is most certainly a debatable matter, many republican leaders are looking upon the spparant disagreement between the two houses as something- to be thankful for, as out of the arguments and plans of both divisions will most certainly be evolved a proper course. SHOCLD GET DELIBERATION' The warm advocates of the full $1.000. OOP spproprlation will feel it keenly If they do not get this amount, but many of the thinking- members point out that the memorial project Is a thin on heretofore undreamed of lines and something- that should be acted upon only after due deliberation. It now appears that the really important thing-, if Indiana is to have a grand memorial building in Indianapolis, is the purchase of the site. If thia Is done at this time before the price of the land appreciates then the details of the memorial building- can he -worked out and the amonnt to be spent on it can be decided on as the Idea develops and becomes visualised In the public mind.

NEW YORK IS FASHION LEADER fSPEClAL TO THE TIMES1 -VQW YORK. July 22. Paris as the leader of women's fashions, must take a back seat. New York has come into first -place. This information came today from one who knows Arthur Tarshia, director of the fashion show of the United Cloak and Suit Designers, which is now being held hare. "New York is certainly the world's style center," declare-d Mr. Tarshis. The only fashiona from Paris now are dowdy freaks that would get any one arretted for wearing them here. To palm off a New York model as coming from Paris Is a knc-ck not a boost. The real styles with pep and kick in them are designed right here.

Put a Nokol Burner in that Coal Furnace of Yours and End Its Dirt Forever TENDING a coal furnace is the dirtiest, meanest job in the house; you find it out every morning; every night; your wife knows it all day. Now you can end all this dirt and drudgery with Nokol ; it burns oil ; fits any modern furnace steam, hot water or hot air. It's merely necessary to remove the coal grats of your present plant and insert the burner through the ash door. Then you'll have a real furnace; one that leaves no dirt; regulates itself; gives you uniform heat you never get with coal. Nokol's entire action is governed by a thermostat; a white-hot flame is kindled only when heat is wanted ; extinguished when it isn't; all automatically. That's fuel economy any time; marked in mild weather whenall-day fires are wasteful. Hundreds of people have used Nokol for two years they're satisfied; you will be. Write for full information. On the National Board of Fire Underwriters' list of approved appliances.
Price of Nokol, complete, without storage tank $325 f. o. b. Hammond; average cost of installation, $35
