tN'fttlons.1 Crop Improvement Bervlce. By W. A. MARTIN. NECESSITY is the mother of invention and Yankee ingenuity will always meet the emergency. The more talk there is about labor shortage, the keener will be the Inventors. There is a man Darned Hughes who was a cowpuncher, stage driver and all-round handy man, who took the contract Bome three or four years ago to lay a forty-seven mile pipe iin to the Loat Soldier oil field, north of Pawlins, Wyo. He had little but his head and his team, bat he got a V-shaped ditcher and graded a road with it into that field to carry supplies, then he took the contract for laying

Mm,

a 4-inch pipe end did all the work with the same tool, the V-shaped, ditcher. At that time he completed the work for little over one thousand dollars. Forty-seven miles1 of ditch 16 inches deep, whereby the old method with pick," shovel, plows, scrapers and hand labor, would have cost nearer twenty-five thousand dollars. The V-8hape-3 ditcher makes Its own trench and turning round, backfills it perfectly. If you want to know about draining, ditching, road making, or any other kind of work, ask your county agricultural agent to put you next to the scheme of doing it cheapest and best.

GENERATOR CHARGING STORAGE BATTERIES Owners of motor cars should realize that a storage battery is gradually dis charging itself whether the car is in use ct Idle. The reason for this i3 that the electricity from & chargred storage battery i due to chemical action of dilute sulpheric acid on Its lead plates. This electro-chemical action begins the moment at which the electrolyte, or solution, i put In, and the battery is brought into operative, condition by electrical charge. Long periods of idleness, due to traffic delays while the battery is in . transit. Inactivity while the automobile is standing in the showroom or in the garage when left for repairs, cause the battery to lose some of Its power. In order to correct this it ia often necessary to give the battery a freshening charge before the car is taken out. It i., moreover, very important that the generator charging rate should be checked up and any inaccuracy corrected at once. rrest-O-I.ite Service Stations, acting on policies inaugurated by the Frest-O-liite Company, take it upon themselves to correct these difficulties The new car owner, taking his car to the Frest-O-LHe station immediately after purchase, receives without ccsj, to him a standard "Initial Test" Je-" sijrneri to start the car off with a cor

rectly operating electric installation. This initial test includes a check Of the generator charging rate, car wiring and test of the storage battery. Xf the battery requires a freshening charge, th!s if als? given as a part of the initial test service. Starting right with a new storage battery and starting and Ughlng installation la half the battle for satis- ' factory service. Little troubles caurht at the very beginning have no chance to develop into big ones.

Bull Enough There, Too. TThen a bull gored a man the other day the first telephoned report set down that the victim was "bored by a fool" and died. The police theory at the time was that he had perished at a political meeting. London Opinion.

Dandruff Surely

Destroys The Hair

Girls if you want plenty of thick, beautiful, glossy, silky hair, do by all means get rid of dandruff, for It will starve your hair and ruin it if you don't. It doesn't do much good to try to brush or wash It out. The only 6ure way to get rid of dandruff is to dissolve it. then you destroy it entirely. To do thiF, get about four ounces of ordinary liquid arvon; apply It at night whe nretlrlng; use enough to moisten the scalp and rub it In gently with the finger tips. By morning, most if not all, of your dandruff will be gone, and three or four more applications wil completely dissolve and entirely destroy every single sign and trace at It. You will find. too. that all itching and digging of the scalp will "stop, rnd your hair will look and feel a hundred times better. Tou can get liquid arvon at any drug store. It is -inexpensive and four ounces is all you will need, no matter ho wmuch dan- , druff you have. This simple remedy i nrver fails. adv.
