Scotland, where she will spend the next two months visiting friends and relatives.
The meeting of the TV. C. T. U. '. held at the home of Mrs. TVm. Reilly ' cf Mason st., Friday, which was a reception for Miss Clara Sears, state treasurer of the TV. C. T. V. was a 'ery enjoyable one. There was a large attendance, a good program and the committee served a nice luncheon. Miss Pears gave a very interesting and detailed talk on the convention, which is to be held here in the month of October. Mss Sears Is very favorably Impressed with this district as the place chosen for the convention and believes that a very fine one will retult. H. E. Granger took Mis3 Sears and several of the ladies for a delightful ride through the Chicago parks, after the reception, and Miss Sears left Xor Indianapolis this morning. Mrs. O. M. Daugherty. 183 Truman ave. 13 entertaining her sister. Mrs. Elsie Farr of Salt Lake City. Utah. . Mrs. TVm. Jones of the Northside. was delightfully surprised by a number of her friends on Thursday evening. The party was in the nature of A farewell as Mrs. Jones and her son are leaving soon for England, to be gone three or four months. The TVm. Calkins. TV . R. C. No. 24S. will hold their regular meeting tomorrow afternoon at 2.30 at the 1. O. O. F. hall. A large attendance i3 desired, as final arrangements are t : be made for the picnic which is to be held en Wednesday.

Lovgren will join her at Denver. They will vi.-it friends in Los Angeles and San Dieyo before goin to Fresno, where Mrs. Riedenauer, a daughter of Mrs. Erumm lives. Mrs. R. J. McCaslin of Henderson. Ky.. accompanied by her grandson. Frank Haas, Jr.. is with her son. W. S. McCaslin. 242 Conkey ave. Mr. Haagr-will return to Kentucky this week but Mrs . McCaslin will stay in Hammond indefinitely. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. McAleer and daughters. Leoda and Marion, left Saturday evening for an extended motor trip through the East. They will stop t Cleveland. The Dorcas Rebecca lodge held Its regular meeting at the I. O. O. F. hall on Saturday evening. The Canton Militants asked for the hall Saturday. July 31st, and the request was granted. The Faithful Workers held a meeting after lodge and it was decided to give a play some time in the near future . They also formed a birthday circle and will Hold a birthday party each month. The first of these wi;i be held at the home of Mrs. Sass, 50g Murray st., Thursday evening, the July members entertaining. All Faithful Workers are urged to be present. Doctors Ostrowski and Wei came out from Hamme-nd ajid made a thorough inspection of the camp. Thy dined with the boys at their regular me?s, found the food wholesome, nourishing and well co-oked. They went through every tent and building, tested the drinking water and pronounced the physical conditions excellent. The introduction of cots was especially commended as against the former practice of sleeping the br-ys on the ground. There wasn't a single complaint of Illness from 55 boys and T staff members quartered at the camp. Valparaiso scout." have established a camp in the neighhorhool and our doctrrs inspected this also. The samee excellent conditions mere found except that the boys were rot furnished with cots. A match game cf baseball was played between the Valpo and the Hammond Scouts with the former bein returned the winneiw. Th camp site is much the best of the Hammond Scouts and photos of Sirr.e of the camp scenes willl shortly be displayed In the windows of som of the Hammond banks. 'Great progress Is being made in scouting, particularly In swimming. Harold Wagner, the camp historian, will shortly furnish a list of the more important things accomplished. The wireless outfit ! again in good working order. The boys agree that the camp Is the best they have ever attended and the most of them want f" stay through the season. They are allowed to do this so far as the space will permit but preference if try be given to the Scouts who have net had a period at this year's camp. The third period begins next Monday. Appolino Romaino, a Mexican, was about to escape by sliding down a blanket from his bed room window when a policeman's bullet hit him in the hip. CONFESSES ROBBERY In his confession to th Gary police, John Rckeney. 936 Washington street, who was arrested by officers Wylovv and Tanitor after breaking into and robbing a west side home, cleared up four other burglaries that occurred in the neighborhood the same niyht.
