AN ORDINANCE FOR REGULATING THE CAPACITY AND DIMENSIONS OF MOTOR TRUCKS USING THE PUBLIC HIGHWAYS WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY

OF HAMMOND. INDIANA.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON

COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HAMMOND. INDIANA: Section 1. That It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation, to operate or to cause or permit of his or Its agents or employees, to operate any motor truck on any pavement in the public streets or alloys of the City of Hammond. Indiana, contrary to the provisions of this ordinance, nor unless

the same shall comply in all respects, j as to equipment, size, weight, width of tires, weight of load1, and all other mat- j ters herein set forth, with, the require- j ments cf this ordinance- j Section 2. For the purpose of this j ordinance a motor truck shall be defined as a self propelled vehicle commonly :

All motor trucks operating on the pavements in euoh streets or alleya shall have tires of rubber or Bome material of equal resiliency and of a width as hereinafter, provided.

No motor truck shall be j o loaded or operated that the total I weight of the portion of the vehicle and load combined resting upon any wheel of j ssme shall exceed eight hundred (800) pounds for each Inch of width of tire j upon such vehicle, and no such vehicle j shall carry aload of such weight that the maximum gross weight of vehicle ; and load combined shall exceed twentyeight thousand pounds, nor shall such j load be so carried that the maxixum ! gross of weight of vehicle and load combined upon any axle of same.
