SENATOR REED IS TO RENEW FIGHT

SAN FRANCISCO, Cal.. June CS Senator James A. Reed. f Missouri, will ren-w his fight today to grain a f-eat in the democratic national convention ,to which he was named twice by the voters of his district. Turned down by the national committee. Reed will take his fight to the credentials committee as soon as it

convenes late today. If he fails in the credentials committee he will carry his fight to the floor. The Hoke Smith-Tom Watson delegates from Georgia, who were turned o .wn in favor of Palmer-pledg-ed delegates, also will renew their tight before the credentials committee at the same time . Charles S. Barrett, who headed the Smith-Watson delegation, said today he ha dbeen advised that Georgia voters were incensed over the ousting of the delegation.

WASHINGTON, June Party pacification conferences will be resumed by Senator Hardin-, the Republican nominee, on his return to his office tomorrow morning from his week-end trip to the summer home of Senator Frelinshuysen at Raritan. X. J. Several of the conferences are planned by the senator, to be held before Saturdp.y. No engagements will be made for that di y as thr senator and his part y expec to leave' Washington about i o'clock in the afternoon, for his home in Marion. Ohio. The senator will taJce with him his office staff of about 20 clerks, stenographers and typists, and hi? office files. The ofRce will located in Marion until after the elections in November. Friends of the senator say that a mncprir.it movement is on in the west

to force a chans-e in the Republican ' program for a front-porch campaign by the presidential nominee. There is no indication at present that the program is to be changed. It has been endorsed unanimously by the Republican national committee and accords

with the views of Senator Harding. Developments in tH campaign may make it advisable for Senator Harding U make two or more important speeches at great centers like Chicago and New Tork. but a barnstorming campaign is not now thought likely. The pacification wi-rfc will go on under the personal direction of Seruitor HarV ing a.fter he leaves Washington. H will invite to his Marion home for peace conferences all Republicans who may continue to show- signs of dissatisfaction, and in heart-to-heart taJks line them up behind the Republican ticket. All fear of a bolt or third party is fading rapidly before the pacification work that is now going on. Republican leaders assert.
