DANCE OF INDUSTRIAL DEATH Man is suoject to marked psychological tendencies. The extravagance of our ieop!e since Armistice Day is one of those psychological phenomena. During the war period we sacrificed gladly, but with the cessation of war the restrained feelings broke loose and we went on a rampage of extravagance such as never before has been exhibited in this land. This dance of industrial death should cease; the curtain should be rung down on this melodrama; our people must become sane, selfrestrained and in a frame of mind to recognize the need cf thrift and saving for the preservation of our credit integrity, and to make possible the extension of help where help is needed. In this situation, preaching does not always cary conviction. Sometimrs the heavy club of disaster is necessary to wake people up,, but with a prosperity that ought to continue and wip continue if we live and act right, would it not be sad indeed to make the club method necessary and bow our heads under disaster before we learn our lesson? Thrift is in oar opinion the czpreciion of real patriotism in these days iuzt as it was ta the period of the war. The people who spend recklessly are losing sight cf the nation's traditions; indeed, they endanger our institutions v.hich some low spirits we are harboring among us are secretly plotting to destroy. We should practice and preach constantly, declaring that for curselves we shall do our best to stop this insanity and bring to a close the melodrama of extravagance that is casting fear into the hearts of the people and producing results that are immoral and destructive. J. H. Tregoe, Secretary-Treasurer, National Association cf Credit Men. (Contributed Ly Hammond Clearing House Ajtocialion.)
