SAYS LADIES AID SOCIETY DAYS PASSING National Democratic Woman's Head Shows How Times are Changing. HV MRS. (iKORGE BASS Chairman Motors 'a riureno lltmorritlf National ( ammilln (Written Expressly for the International News Service SAN FRANCISCO. i.'AL., June 22 The day of the"Uadies Aid Society" is pasMng. The churches are admitting them as deleuates and voting members. In politics we are moving more rapidly. Four years after the democratic national convention recommended the extension of the suffrage to women, their enfranchisement is practically accomplished miinly through the un

tiring efforts made by the president. Without waiting f a- the adoption of the 19th amendment and before it was submitted to the states, he democratic national committee doubled its membership an dprovided for the appointment of a woman upon the national committee fro each state, l.aat fall the executive committee voted to double its membership, adding 17 women to this directing force of the national committee. Never at any time has there been a disposition to keep the women waiting outside the committee rooms, nor will there be. durins this convention. "It is not a rjuctlion of taking them into the party councils. They are the party councillors, and will have a voice in all that is done. In addition to tms the national committee has endorsed a plan for organization that calls for a committee woman as well as a committee man for each state to be elected in the same manner and with equal power. "This daiinite instruction has had

much to do with the great number of I

women chuff n to attend convention. We hive more than a hundred delegates twenty-five of them delegates-at -large and 150 alternates. When we add to thi slhe national committee women, the members of the executive committee and my ou n staff, we have over inn women who will take an act

ive part in the coming convention and they will not be on the outside looking. but on the inside, too much occupifd with the great business in j hard to have time to lok out. j
