TODAY IS FLAG DAY
Today was Flag Pay, but from the number of flags displayed in Hammond up to noon, no one would ever have guesied it. On State street, between Hohman St.. and Calumet ave.. there were Just two flags flying. Hohman t. showed a similar dreath. Then Frank O.Rourke got busy and had a number of small flaVs put out en the ornamental l?ht posts. Otherwise the city almost slipped through the day with no recognition of its Figrnificance . However, the EYns lodge ha always been the faithful observer of Flag Day and as usual a special program will be Riven by the lodtfe tonight. The exercises will be hel-i at the K. of F". hall. She was employed at the G. H . Hammond Co. rr. T. J. Bolin. who has been 11) with blood poisoning for the past week submitted to an operation yesterday in which his left index fingrer was remoxed. Dr. Bolin was suffering from blood poisoning in his left hand and arm. and the infection became so dangerous that he was forced to have a finger removed. It will be some time Vefore he will be able to resume his practice. Frances Ber.ntt of 430 May St.. has gmt to Mansfield. Ohio. for a visit. Prof. Treston Townsend of Indiana I niversity spent the week-end as tha guest of A. W. Zetehner of Ruth st. Ralph Pierce motored to Ann Arbor, where he will spend a few days.
