DISREGARDED COUNCIL ACT
Ka?f f, iiM go, with a f"v individual ' JkOi-piion.s. yestercay niornms dis-I'-irdd th action of t h- city imuih'11 in ri-jrard daylight favms ami t'lay practically t h entire ity is run r. ;rc rnf hour ah-ai f aoivdule. rulers will start daylinht savings t-r!.--rr-w and K.i.t fhict" ill thn -o operating fniirely in the new schedule. "he eity halt was on.- of thr nmt .Tjr.i nizations of the city 1 get lu.y ail th mayor was requested to allow the offices t npvn on the r.ew 1 1 me . Permission wa granted, the r.s announced that they would operfite on the new time, the business h mses prepared to adopt the new hours and the climax in the mrv-nt-r was reached when the New York Central lines announced that o-y would ihns to the new time at two o'clock this morning-. Ail of the railroads' which operate in Kast Chicago and Indiana Harh.T had announced a ehar.pe of tune rf-fe,-rie Sunday morning with the exception of the New York Centra! line? -rho reported that they could i,,., ehan.c schedules hefore next Sunday. The city ordinance, conforming to the New York Central plans, was to take effect on the twentieth. The larpe :n-1atries of Indiana Harbor. however, brought inhtience to bear on the N'ew York Central with the result that they agreed to change schedules this morning. Only a few of the industries of the Twin Cities had announced that th"y would continue on the old schedule until the city council changed the time hy- ordinance, but with everything else ehJir.jring. they are now making plans lor opening on the new time tomorrow morn me. The manager of the Western Union office will make an effort to secure a change in time today, A 1 Western T'nion clocks in the city are still on the old time and one of the. amusing: features of the mixup 15 that one clock on the four corners is just an hour faster than the one across the street. Since the entire city has disregarded the action of the city council it is donbtfnl if a special meeting of the council will be called this week, but action will be deferred to th regular meetinjr next week.
