Col. Walter J. Riley, the raluirift repton's well known financier and booster was one of th appointees of National G. O. r. Chairman Will Hays as assistant chairman of the republican national convention and is after consultation with the representatives of the railroads it . decided ta have a special meeting of the council tailed if possible. When the facts were laid before President Burns, he Im mediately issue! the cail for Friday night. A copy of the Chuafro ordinance! has been recejxrd and will be close! v ! 1 followed in the draft of the local ordinance. The Eat Chicago Chamber of Commerce discussed the question at their mfeutiK esterday noon and without a dissenting vote went on record as favoring the adopt io,n of day light savings in East Chicago. Each of the three cities of Gary East Chicago and Hammond has now a call for a special meeting of the council for Friday night and Whiting is expected to take similar action before the end of the week. There seems no dojbt that all will adopt the same previsions as contained in the Chicago ordinance. THE TIMES FINANCIAL COLUMN CHICAGO AH f;BAl WHEAT No. 2. 283. CORN No. 2. IF.orah said, however, "he was afraid there ere enough votes in the comI nuttee to force the adoption of such a plank." A wide divergence of opinion as to how the industrial situation should he met by the convention developed when the labor plank submitted by the "steering co-mmitte" : reached. At noon today, the board finished the last of the East Ohicairo precincts with Mcllroy still T2 votes ahead of Holmes. There are still four Hobart precincts i to cound and two in Calumet township "f the incorporated towns. It was thought probable that the board would ! -al'lf to finish those precincts before niht and thus wind up their bif job. The official results as announced for j the first S3 precincts counted were as follows: Holmes, 3. SIS; Mcllroy, 3.S7S; Nejdl. 39M. There had been some worry expressed by friendfi of Senator Nejol early in the recount when the standinr j fluctuated, but it will be satn from the flftare-s that h still maintains a lead of J more than a hundred votes over the next i high may.
