HOOD EPS POLL LEAD:

L,oenard Wood continues a strong lead r rr other candidates f or the Republican nomination for president, as shown ui the literary Digest po'il. llirain John'n take.s second jplace atiJ Herbert Hoover third. The rise.t poll for last week. ineiuli'K the votes counted in the previous three weeks, tabulated a total of 718. 57S wtes. On the iv-mocratie side "William ;. .McAdoo has first place. Governor Kdward I Edwards of .Vow Jersey, j.wn l, nd President Voodrow Wibon a close t in i d. Herbert Hoover is placed in the RcI'ubiican column, but it is noticed that the number of Democratic otes he'rooed is almost equal to the number of K publican, and that the number of 3'emocratic votes he received. 4 1.7b,", is ;:bout I'.'.O'.'O greater than the number of lmocrat! votes rcociv.-d by McAdoo. In total votes Wood h lot). 186, Juhn."n, 11S.D15. and Hoov er. 113.!fS. Wood's ad over Johnson being IS.lS. In 1publioan votes Wood's lead over Johnson is 31.7C1 and his lead over Hoover is 36.63$. This . otnes about because a ereat many more Democrats voted for Johnson and Hooven than for Wood, and as the Digest observe, it is RopuMit.ui xotes that will count in the national convention. Wood's Republican vote is almost as great as Uie Republican vote for Johnson and Hoover combined. His Republican vote is 107, 6?4; Johnson. 7..?3; Hoover, 59,936: Louden. 47.:;3: Harding. Is. 341, of -which most are from Ohio. Nearly half of Ijowdens vote is from Illinois. So far as the candidates that competed in the Indiana primary are concerned, the Digest roll shows their standing in the. fame order as the actual vote pave it Wood, first; Johnson, second; Lowdcn, third, and Harding', fourth. The Indiana presidential preference primary result is very closely in line with the showing of the nationwide Digest polk Th Digest poll prtv-es the Indiana vote at follows: Wood. S.637; Johnson, 4,35!; Lowdcn. 3,771; Harding, 2.212.

constructed in its present st.vlc of archi teet u re. The numerous turrets and towers on the wings of he castle reveal the different styles of design prevalent at that time, no two of them being of the same stjle. The castle stands on the wastes overlooking the Rhine river. 552 feet below, the chapel standing out in relief against the sky. It may be seen for many kilometres down the river. The paths leading to the castle are steep and abrupt, and all supplies must be carried on the backs of burros. The interior of the castle is much like a museum. containing? all the armor plate, w eapons of the hunts and wars used by members of the family since the time when the first castle was built. The collection of tapestries. hangings, paintincs and trophies of the hunt are intensely interesting. The floors are mostly of stone, and the furniture
j of the heavy hand carved type.
