CANCER It is psporially imjH-.rtant to l:no-.v a few of the more important fac's about cancer because one out of every ton persons who die after fortv die
-tt--' i cancer. It is important as wol! j to separate fart from fiction in your mir.d because the virulence of "this wasj disease has riven rise to many myths
ana tr.eories which do a great deal of harm. The first things to remember is that almost rvery case is curable if taken in the early stages. Unfortunately, the early ptasres of the disease are usually rainless and therefore warning symptoms are overlooked. It te-jc-ins usually as a pnffiSI local crowth which may easily be- removed by an operation or, in some few cases, by radium or x-ray treatments. It is not a constitutional disease nor is it "catching," so fear of infection is ri'Iy. Any sore, especially about the mouth or lips which does not heal within a normal time should be watched carefully and a physician consulted without delay. Birthmarks, moles, warts and other blemishes which change in appearance or which begin to gTow warrant the suspicion of cancer. Persistent indigestion in middle life, accompanied by loss of weight, change of color, diorrhea, vomiting, are also grounds for suspicion. Don't be discouraged at so many symptoms or let the dread of the disease prey on your mind for after all, while we hear much of the deaths of cancer patients, we hear little of the cures which are far more frequent than is usually believed. Patients who recover prefer not to talk about it; and those who do not are held up as a warning by the medical profession which has been trying for years to
make the public take normal precautions against the disease.

reed attention, go to a physician. You can't afford to take chances with one of the most delicate organs that nature has made. If the wax in your ear3 is not sufficiently fluid and hardens," causing bu.tring and even temporary loss of hearing in one or both ears, have it removed by a physician. VVash your ears as you wash the rest of your body with soap and water but never poke into them with your fingers or with a match or toothpick or you may rue it to your dying day. FOR PERSPIRING FEET Bathe every alternate day with a solution of one tablespoon of formalin in a quart of water. Powder inside of stockings and shoes freely with alum powder. Continue for a week or two and then stop the treatment, resuming it when it becomes necessary. Remember that any astringent interferes with the action of the pores and the secretion of oil in the skin and should never, therefore, be prolonged any longer than is necessary. "LIVER SPOTS" There is only one safe cure for this kind of blemish and that is exercise. Incidentally "liver spots" have nothing whatever to do with the liver. They are due to some derangement of the digestive apparatus and must therefore be cured by exercise, diet and fresh air. If ycu persist in trying to remove them by external treatment, you may remove the skin but you will rot prevent the appcaance of fresh spot.
