Who is Thomas?

William 0. Thomaj, born in White County, Indiana, in the 10th Congressional district, in 1878; son of a civil war veteran; raised on a farm, and by doing extra work on neighboring farms at every opportunity he was enabled to send himself to school at Valparaiso, from which school he graduated in 1900. He began practicing at his profession at Monticcllo, Ind., where he was very successful for a number of years, and later moved to Hammond with his family, where he now lives.

What is His Record as Deputy Pros.

After practicing for a number of vcars with of-

ices in the 0. K. building, he was appointed Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, which office he has

fie

held tor three and a half years. While Deputy in Hammond he had charge of the prosecution of all criminal work before Judges Reiter, Hardy and Greenwald. and a great deal of the work in Gary fell to him. While in Hammond 400 cases were filed and prosecuted by hirn, among which were a great many convictions for murder, larceny and burglary. When the Criminal Court was moved to Crown Point on April 1, 1918, he had complete charge of ail criminal work in the county, in which court he has had phenomenal success.

Thomas believes that every man accused of crime is entitled to justice. He was absolutely fair and impartial in his prosecutions, entitled to a chance to reform. He has the courage of his convictions, and believes in justice for all. He is a Prosecutor, Not a Persecutor

ALLEGED RED PLOTTER JUMPS TO DEATH

Former Judge Albert C. Huber a Probable Winner in Next Tuesday's Primaries Albert C. Huber of Gary, lias made one of the most effective campaigns for County Recorder on the Republican ticket that has been made in the present campaign for any of the offices, and all signs point to his nomination next luesday. Mr. Huber has made his canvas on for issues. 1. That he is qualified from experience to administer the office in an efficient manner. 2. That from a political pcint of view he is entitled to reward from the Republican Party, he having been active in the parties and its candidates' behalf for the past twenty-one years in the county, having assisted all present and former Republican County officials in their efforts to gain office, in

cluding all the judges. j 3. That Gary casts one-third of the Republican vote of the county, but "has never had one official in the Court I leuf e, except Judg? Norton, who was appointed by the Governor to fill a vacancy. Gary should be treated fair. 4. By voting for him, you will stop office holders jumping from one office to another before their terms of office expire, as several of the candidates for Recorder would have to resign their present offices given them by Republicans :f they should be elected. As a man remarked at a meeting in Whiting, that the office holders who jump from one office to another before their terms expire, always reminded him of the boarder at the table who took a piece of meat from the platter and put it on his plate, and then saw one on the platter that looked better to him. and so, made the exchange, which was ery satisfying to him. but disgusting to the other boarders. Mr. Huber's number on the ballot is 46. He will appreciate the votes or all voters who believe in a square c1;.! and a just reward. Adv. j
