SOCIAL HEWS , The Columbia school had a parentsteachers meeting yesterday afternnon. Mrs. "Wm. "Williams had charge of the meeting. The program was af follows: Fiano solo. Miss I-aura Hess; reading lesson, by the first grade; Roman History, Room Five; a talk on th Bey Scout organisation, by the Kxcutire of the Boy Scouts. K. S. Davy. There was a s-od attendance and a nice luncheon was served. Irving Hill will be home from Illinois to spend spring vacation, which is next week with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. TV. A. Hill, of Highland st. Two hundred members of the Baptist Sunday school held an indoor picnic in the gym of the church last evening. It was very prettily decorated with hunting, apple blossoms and Japanese lanterns. After the picnic supper the evening was spent with indoor games. There was a brief program, and Miss Louise Carter gave a e hort talk . The Standard Bearers will meet at the home of Mrs. Pr. Spitler, April 2nd. A good program has been arranged for this evening. The Baptist Women's Union will hold an all day meeting- In the church parlors tonporrow. A large attendance is desired as It Is the day for pledges for the decorating fund. The 'Women's Republican Organisation met in the office of W. J. Whinery and had an election of officers last evening. The following were elected: Mrs. W. P. Patton. city chairman; Mrs. M". J. Duggan. vice chairman Mrs. vV. J'. Whinery, secretary and tirosurer. They expect to organise a citizenship class in each precinct, to teach the women the principals of citizenship and the methods of voting. Mr. Chas. Mott, of Petroit st.. who hss been seriously ill with the typhoid fever. Is convalescing and expects to be up soon. Mrs. P. E. Boone of May St.. very delightfully entertained the Erthstane club at a one o'clock luncheon yesterday, together with the club she entertained the Misses Grail and Wilson, who are from South Bend. The tint meeting will occur in two weeks at the home of Mrs. J. M. Turner, on Truman ave. Mrs. Minnie Kline of Ruth st very delightfully entertained at an afternoon party yesterday about twenty ladies who were neighbors and church members of the Mesdames Allaben, Sr.. and G. A. The audience was fairly representative and much appreciation was expressed for the merit of the program. I-SDIMDVAI. STARS. The excellence of the Glee Club was greatly enhanced by the many interesting solos and group numbers. Harold Jones, C. Bean and B. Sayre were among those who sang solos during the entertainment. Probably the most graciously received numbers on the program were the songs by Miss Trippeer. Her voice was of a high, clear quality and her numbers were at all times popular. Conkey are expected home from the south his week. Pave Nagdeman. son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Nagdeman. of Pyer Boulevard, has jot returned from the Mayo Brothers, Rochester. Minn., where he has been for the. past six weks underpins- a diagnosis. He lout the sight of i eye entirely and was fast losing the sight in the other one. When he left his eyes were in such a condition that he was almost totally blind. As he is only seventeen years old his parents were very alarmed about this condition. The Mayos believe this trouble to be from an Infection caused by an ulcerated tooth. He is much improved since his return. The G. A. R. McMORRIS WANTS DIVORCE When Marglin McMnrris returned to his home in Ha-rmond last v ear after serving in the V . S. Army, he found conditions " in his home c.-nsiderable different from what he left them. His wife Essey McMorris, he avers, had been living with another man at her home on Pine street. In Hammond, and pretending that he was her husband. This he alleges in the lomplaint for a divorce which he filed th:s mornirsr in the Hammond superior court. He also says that she and her paramour were arrested by the Hammond police on February 1. 1313 and turned over to the federal authorities on a white slave charge.
