racing fan: A remarkable Incident In the recent T.os Angeles race brings this point out in a striking manner. Art Klein was leading the field on the 133rd mile. Suddenly- his right rear wheel collapsed, 'fhe steel spokes being ahearrd cleaving the air at 104 miles an hour, f ff close to the rim. Rearing wildly, the car scrambled crar.ily about on th remains of the wheel, but the fully infated Goodyear cord tire, perfectly mounted, swept on down the track at terrific speed in the direction the car had beertaklng. When it Pna.liy came to a step. It was found uninjured. This is the first time that such a freak performance, demon sf ra t ing the ruggedness of tires, hia ever been witnessed curing a race.
