During its life as a mighty nation, a defender of Christianity, and of Continental Europe, Poland asked nothing of any nation. Today she has again her opportunity to once again regain her title, and Is striving with all her resources to live up to her former grandure. But this time It is not so much from the moral standpoint as from the social. Today she is, and her position in Europe is such, that she once again becomes the defender of Europe. From the north comes the Russian Red with his propaganda of Bolshevism which are this would have overrun Europe but for the bulwark of the Polish armies. And once again the diplomats of Europe turn to Poland for sld. And. as before Poland is ready and willing. But while away at war her people, especially the children and aged need sustenance and this. she. the Mother cannot give as
she ought, because her energies are divided. She must seek help outside, to aid her. and this she has decided' to fio amongst her own people in oth-j er countries, and also amongst the peoples cf those cuntries. One of the greatest ot these Is America, the cradiej
of freedom. On March ?0. I?t0. the Folish National Defense Committee has decided to hold a tig day in every state In the I'nion for the benefit of the starving children of Poland, and begs every citiren to contribute as much as he is willing to the cauee. Our own Mr. Hoover has time and time ss-ain appealed to the hearts of his people to help, knowing that without such aid Poland cannot do her part In the crisis now pending.
In our own fair city of East Chicago, our genial mayor has -added his
support to the coming tag day, and as I
a starter one cf our well known and benevolent t'tizens. Mr. Walter Riley, has ttarted the ball rolling with a donation of $50 for which the local committee of the Polish National Defense Committee heartily think, him. We will close by ssklng the citizens of this fair city and state to remember the day or March 20, t20. Give, and give cheerfully, for the Lord loves a cheerful giver.
