NO OCCASION FOR II. The averag-e charge for an inquest was from Jti to $9. Aside from the, nlfPReri iljepal inquest il i-a disclosed that a long list of Lake cuinty doctors were given fees of $15 for each autopsy they conducted. In many o'f th cases where an autopsy was thus ordered and paid for. the person died from natural causes, that there was no occasion for the expenditure, the accounts hoard held. The report also alleges that it was found that constables w era in the habit of tfoitiK out of the county and the state to suhpena witnesses for inquests. Constable have no rig-tit to no outside the county in such cases, the report holds, stid the mileage collected by them for these excursions outside the county are charged back to the coroner. It was also found, according to the report, that constable rharged subpoena fees when they did not actually serve the. subpoenas.
