At a meeting of the directors of the newly organized Hammond Republican Club last night it s decided to hold a big Republican get-tog'ther meeting at the Hammond Oiamlx r of Commerce rooms tin- evening of fob. 12 Lincoln's birthday. Judge A". S. Reil.-r has been assured by the state central committee that plenty of good speakers are available for the day and the best will he assigned to Hammond for the occasion. Because of, the importance of the day particular pains is being taken to make the program complete in every respect. Those in charge will provide plenty of entertainment in addition to the round of speeches. From interest which has been shown, it ii believed the hall will be crowded. The committee is also planning to launch a. campaign for new members soon, through which it is hoped to make every Republican in Hammond a member of the club. "With the. membership drive over the steps will be taken which are expected to make the organization a potent factor in the coming campaign.

Marvin Anderson was host at a birthday party Thursday evening at his home on Michigan ave. It was his tenth birthday. The evening was very pleasantly spent with games and a nice luncheon with decorations of pink and white, was served. Covers were laid for ten guests.
The Baptist Women's Cnion held its regular meeting In the church yesterday afternoon. After the regular business meeting there was a demonstration of the new methods of cooking by a Mr. Silverthome. demonstrator for the Ever Wear Aluminum Co. in this district. There were thirty-five present. It was a very interesting meeting.

The members of Baumgarten Cort No. .10?.' are requested to meet at St. Joseph's parish hall tonight at 7:30 to make final arrangements for the funeral of the deceased brother, John Vurn.
CHRISTIAN CHURCH ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Christian church was held lat night. Seven elders, twenty-seven deacons, thirty-tdx deaconesses and three trustees were elected. The trustees are A. Dickinson. C. E. Kitchen and R. C. Pierce. All departments reported substantial work done 'and balances in all treasuries. The building fund treasurer, the Ladies Aid treasurer, the Sunday School treasurer, and others rendered a total for the year of approximately JlO.i'00. Mr. Sharp, missionary treasurer, reported over $7,000 raised and handled for missionary work. The annual banquet for the seventy members of the newly elected board will be held Feb. 19. The elders report that they expect to be able to suggest a successor for Mr. Sharp very soon. Last Sunday there were fifteen adult additions to the membership and seven young men and two young women volunteered "for the ministry and mission field. Rev. Shrp reported 216 added to the church during the year and 2617 during his ministry hfre. Plans were laid to accomplish a good yrar's work undr the new leader, beginning March first.

JOHN ZURN DIED THIS MORNING John Zurn died at 2 o'clock this morning at his home 6?6 Oakley ave.. Hammond. He was fifty-six years old and is survived by a wife, four sons and three daughters. He had been employed as a car inspector up to the time of his last illness. Mr. Zorn was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. The funeral will be held Monday morning at S o'clock from St. Joseph's church and burial w.ll he in St. Joseph's cemetery in charge of Undertaker Emmcrling.
