Motor Truck in Town

This huge Goodyear motor transport equipped with its big pneumatic tires will demonstrate .to truck users and the general public today in Hammond. The history of the Goodyear Fleet of trucks which originally during the war period when freight cars and express service was demoralized carried its freight of gas masks, airplane, tires, and other war material from Akron to

Boston and brought back tabnc and cord from the textile mills at Goodyear, Connecticut. 1 he round trip, a distance of 1,570 miles, was made in 4'2 days, less time than express service. ' To prove that a truck with this tire equipment could accomplish most any of the conditions that might exist in the country, this truck accompanied by another truck last September made a trip from coast to coast, over 71 per cent unimproved roads, a total distance of 7,763 miles, in 24 days. 1 hour and 55 minutes, an average speed of Wi miles per hour, through treacherous gumbo mud. over the sands of the desert and the steep, flinty trails of the Rockies, with only two broken parts and that dae to an accident. This feat previously unknown proves the effectiveness and practicability of these tires. After these strenuous efforts this truck is now carrying its story through the states of Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska,' North and South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin, not only demonstrating "Improved Industrial Hauling" in the cities , but going to the out of the way places to shovr the farmer how he can do farm hauling more profitably.
