A Happy Thanksgiving Time
Pne people of the City of East Chicago do not have to look far for things to be thankful for. First, over two thousand of our ycung men who were in camps in America and overseas a year ago this time are now safe at home. Another reason for thankfulness is the prosperity we enjoy, the industries cf this city employing far more men than they did at any time

The Thanks We Owe It is only a fewyears since the lake winds swept the vacant sand stretches where now ftands Indiana Harbor. But back in the early days of '02 and '03 Thanksgiving Day found a little community grateful for what had been given to it. In even- respect Indiana Harbor is a favored community. An industrial development hardly dreamed of ten years ago, a most prosperous t year, brilliant prospects for 1920 we have even- reason to be grateful to Providence!

Roast Beef and Fire Insurance Food costs like sixty, yet you pay the price. Fire insurance costs no more today than it did when you bought your first policy. Why then, do you deny yourself the additional protection which the present increased value of your property demands? Let this agency and the old reliable Hartford take care of this vital need.

The First Thanksgiving It was in the year 1621 that the grateful Plymouth lettlers held the first Thanksgiving services. During the American revolution congress ordained frequent Thanksgivings, and in 17S4
Washington proclaimed a Thanksgiving in honor of peace. The year 1815 again found an occasion to be grateful for peace, an event of which President Madison took appropriate notice. Since the civil war Thanksgiving day h always been observed on the last Thursday in November, and Thanksgiving, 1919, hnds the American nation the most fortunate in the world.
