When the engine is in one position the chain will be very tight and wlin the engine is cranked over again (about onehalf length of the drive chain), the drive chain becomes very loose. Could it be that the chain or either of the sprockets are worn?

Take a fair of round jawti pliers five or six inches long. file a notch on the inside' of each jaw near the end and then reduce the diameter of the jaws until they will just slip into the holes in the ends of the spilt washer.
