PRESIDENT APPEALS TO CONFERENCE (Continued from Page One war? Must suspicion and hatred and force rule us in civil llfo? Are our industrial leaders and industrial workers to live together without faith in each bther, constantly struggling for advantage over each other, doing naught but what Is compelled? "My friends, this would be an intolerable outlook, a prospect unworthy of the large things done by this people in the mastering of this continent; indeed It would be an Invitation to national disaster. From such a possibility my minds turns away, for my confidence is abiding that in this land we have learned how to accept the general Judgment upon matters that affect the public weal. And this is the very heart and soul of democracy. "It is my understanding that you have divided upon one portion only of a possible large program which has not fully been developed. Before a severance Is affected based upon rresent differences I believe you should stand together for the development of that full program touching the many questions within the broad scope of your investigations. It waa in my mind when this conference was called that you would concern yourselves with the discovery of those methods by which a measurable co-operation within Industry may have ben secured, and if new machinery needs to be designed by which a minimum of conflict between employers and employes may reasonably be hoped for. that we should make an fffort to secure Its adoption. It cannot be expected that at every step all parties will agree upon each proposition or method suggested. It Is to be expected, however, that es a whole a plan or program can be. agreed upon which will advance further the productive capacity of America through the establishment of a surer and heartier co-operation between all the elements engaged in industry. The public experts not less than that you shall have that, cne end in view and stay together until the wiy is found leading to tht end or until it is revealed that trie men who work and the men who manige American industry are so set upon divergent paths that all effort at co-operation is doomed to failure. "I renew my appeaj that wtih a full comprehension of the almost incomparable importance of your tasks to this and to other peoples and with full faith In the high patriotism and good faith of each other you push your ta.sk to a happy conclusion. "WOODROW WILSON.-' GRUESOME FIND MADE IN DIOrGINGr (Continued from Page One) Holmes, about 25 years ago, who at that time conducted a drug store at the corner of 63rd and Wallace Streets in Chicago. When he wa arrestd and pieced on trial he confessed that he had murdered a score or more of persons In order to collect life Insurance. His terrible crimes were a shock to the whole country. During hi.s testimony he admitted that he had killed one woman and burried her ebout twelve .miles cast of Momence. 111. Later Dr. hrontz, of Momence. went to see him in prison and asked him to tell where he hsd buried the woman that she miRht be given a decent burial. This he refused to do unless he was paid $30. Later Holmes w?s hung for his crimes. Alexander Black declares that he well remembers that several men came out from Chicago and du5 around on farms in the vicinity of where the bones v.rre found and that one of the farms where they have been discovered was owned by his brother, Thomns Clack, but no trace of the body or bodies was found. Finally the matter ceased to be of public interest, but the finding of the bones has brought it back to the minds of the older people and the grewsome Holmes murder is once again a source of interest here. Mr. Black we! remembers the day that Holmes and the woman came to Momence. They were at the hotel and the woman had been crying. The wife of the hotel manager as'e1 her what was the matter and the woman told her she !id not believe she was the FOR IIC1LI0RM Use Antiseptic Liquid Zemo There is one remedy that s;ldora fails to stop itching torture and relievo akin irritation and thzit mikes tocskia soft, clezr and heakhy.
