WE REGRET IT NOW. While we in Indiana must sincerely regret that In the state is a community in which certain elements are so forgetful cf the respect they owe to others as to become sufficiently lawless to require state and federal troops to quell them the people of America must understand that all cf Indiana is not so affected. Respectable, law abiding citizens .of this great state truly deplore the situation in Gary, Indiana Harbor and East Chicago and would not have it exist were it in their power io create different conditions. South Bend Tribune. And yet, when all is said and done. South Bend or any other place in the state does not deplore if a fractional part as much as the Lake county cities do. Kr s-peetable and law-abid;n citizens predominate here, too and they are not to blame for the xisiant conditions Xone or the cities mentioned is to blame for 'hem. The blame must be looked for elsewhere. A government which has permitted thousand af al:ns to rull down huge -wages in security for years whiie if drafted Amer lean boys to go to Euro? and y.u-rirlc their lives fot 5 ?o that these aliens might live rti secur.ty on the fat of the land, is only reaping what it has sown. THE TROUBLE WITH THE WORLD. Some scientific persons in the have found an answer to a question that, for months, has been harras---ing the ordinary mind. Bri -fly. they Have di.-covored that the trouble' with the present, world is that the subconscious is breaking out. The Austrian, Freud, has a theory, by this time more or less familiar to new paper readers, that many ills of human' are due to the .,up-
pressicn of more or less immoral wishes. The roaro.-sed machine guns, trench mortal
desire, put ou' of the eomrci.uts mind. i-. neve
