Sheriff Clark and his deputies, with the flames mounting to upper floors of the court house, fought a grim battle, hu? nt 11:00 o'clock when the fire hai reached the fourth floor and it appearel that the lives of 100 prisoners in ths jail on the fifth floor of the structure were endangered, the sheriff surrendered and gave the negro over to the mob. Sneak thieves recently broke Into the Lincoln school at Hanover Center and stole a new Victrola and the culprits, if caught, are promised a good dose of the law.
