All the plants in Indiana Harbor are quiet today. No smoke Issued from the chimneys of the Burtlngion Portland Cement plant which was the only pianl operating yesterday. Strike leaders stated last nH"." that they had succeeded in closing the Huff.tiKton plant and their statements are cor finned today by the absence of smoke from the chimneys. Yesterday was more quiet than the day before and no cases of violence were reported. When told of reported ! 3503 of violence and threatened violence. Steel Secretary J. E. Howard said. "If the police or anyone else will report those cases to me. I'll personally see that tho men are prosecuted. The union has no sympathy for men like that. Thy are dangerous to our success." New picket badges have been received and there is now no chance of mistaking a picket. Tho new badges are almost a food long, about three inches wide, and bear the words "Union Picket." It is likely that a certain number of rickets will be decided upon by the strike leaders and the mayor and all others will be kept away front the strike area. The mayor will confer with strike leaders today. Mr. Howard yesterday received orders from the Chicag-o headquarters that no men are to be allowed to go to work. This he says will change the plans of the local strike and that monthly men will not be allowed to enter the plants if peaceful picketing will keep- them out. The Hubbard Steel Foundry paid their men In full today and it is understood will now close the plant for an indefinite length of time.

CAPTURE LARGE QUANTITY LIQUORS The Gary police have made another capture of a large quantity of liqucrs at a blind piKftery run at 1541 Washington street. On orders from Captain Mc

Cartney and a search warrant the officers swooped down on the blind piggery at that address and made a raid of a larfre of a quantity of whiskey and wines and with -two men named Joo Cimino and Joe Ceasor, loading men and liquors into the patrol wagon and broustht them to the police station. The officers taking an invoice of their haul found live gallons of coloring, ten gallon keg of raisin whiskey, one gallon glass jug raisin w hiskey, tw o liquor barometors, six glasses that had had wine in !) Id to customers, p'our gallon jug of wine and nine barrels of wine tint had been made was left behind for evidence. The men were arraigned in city court and bound over to the federal courts.
