FAILED TO GET LICENSE
Failing to got a permit from the city to pass out hand bills, John Clarkson of Hammond, Ind.. was arrested at Fifteenth and Broadway by Ofilcer Kertless of the nary police Saturday afternoon. This is in violation of a city ordinance and Clarkson will he given trial in the city court before Judge Dunn today.

Capt. Houck and two sergeants from the army recruiting headquarters at Indianapolis arrived n Hammond today to assist Sergeant Bob Cramer in his campaign to procure men for all brajnehes of the service for the Sixth division at Camp Grant, 111. Cramer has also received instructions from Major T. F. Ryan to procure men for the Twentieth infantry, quartermaster and transport corps at Ft. Benjamin Harrison. An especially alluring branch of the service has been opened to a limited number of exceptionally good men. Previous service men are wanted, adapted for field artillery, for service at the Illinois State University, Vrbana, 111. This detachment consists of two sergeants, one 'chief mechanic, two mechanics, one horseshoer, and seventeen privates. They wfll receive $15 monthly, commutation of quarters, $2.25 per day commutation of rations, and f4.72 per month for commutation of heat and light, all in addition to their regular soldier pay. These men for college duty will not be required to drill more than one or two hours per day. and the principal duty will be to assist in instructing in the work for field artillery.
