THORPE'S CANTON TEAM MAY PLAY ON GRID HERE

The Chicago Football league held its second meeting of the year Thursday at ISO West Washington street. Joe Taupa acted as temporary chairman. Thirtyfive teams entered in the 110 to 135 round division. This division will play free lance ball. With the Intention of playing Jim Thorpe's Canton, O., eleven in Chicago near the close of the season, Paupa, who developed the Municipal pier eleven last fall, is organizing a Chicago heavyweight football team. This team will be composed of the best ex-college players available and Ave players of last year's pier team already have been signed. Thorpe already has consented to bring his team to Chicago provided a substantial guarantee is offered. Charley Lacigne will manage the team.

baseball team, the champions of the French Unirrsity Baseball League, will be the opponents of the home club at Hammond tomorrow afternoon. The club is composed of officers and soldiers who wore taking a four month's course at the Toulouse University, that brir.s; one of the fourteen French universities where American doughboys were gettinn the finishing touches upon their "pari'; vous" education. Each one of the schools had a team in the university league. There were a schedule of fourteen games and the Toulouse team won thirteen out of the fourteen games. The team was brought here by John T. Powers, who was the athletic director at the university. Powers is a well known as a national character in baseball. He was the organizer and first rersident of Federal baseball league: Ho also organized other professional baseball leagues, among them being the old Wisconsin-Illinois league, which he piloted
