Hammond fans will b given thetr first opportunity to see Saturdny semipro ball tomorrow afternoon at the local pfcrk. To asuure the fans their money's worth Manager Nagel has booked a double attraction and will give them two frames for the one price of admis? Ion. Promptly at 1:30 p. m. the Whitman and Hrnes team will rlay Gary and the w inner of this game will play Hammond, the final game to be called immediately after the first one is finished. The Whitman and Barnes club is now leading the Chicago Leauge. having won i: games and lost 3. r.a Saturday and Monday they increased their string of v.tftorior. by taking the Magnets and Vaukegan. The Magnets, with Corey Pitching, were handed an overwhelming dofeat by the score of 13 to 2 and according to the dope Gary should be easy picking for the fast Whitman and names outfit. Gary, however, may conic over here loaded up and spring a surprise in which event they will have t ho long looked for chance to square themselves for the awful beating Hammond handed them earlier in the reason. Hammond will use Cieir regular lineup in tomorrow's game with exception of AVallace. who severely injured he thumb on his throwing hand last Sunday. In place of Iave, Nagel has signed up Tommy Asmussen, who will probably be with the team the rest of the season. Asnvussen is well known by local fans as he is reputed to be onc; of the best semi-pro catchers in Chicago. He has been rated as a top-notch receiver, having caught for the Gunthcrs and other leading clubs for the past fewyears. On Sunday the strong A. IZ. V. team, overseas champions, who gcined quite a reputation on account of thftr rcror;l. will be the attraction at the local pari.. In a recent scries with Joliet the A. 11. I". Won two games and lost one, so f:tns can gather from this that they must ha e some club. Following are the batting averages of the Hammond team to date:
