that the members of the American peace commission had been "very modest." He cited the high cost of food, fuel and transportation In France and said that due to war conditions many expensive means of communications had to be maintained and that it was necessary to keep a, large courier corps. The president declared that it was not possible for him to state when the work of the peace commission would be completed, but he believed that the maximum time that It would be In session would be the end of the present calendar year. The president also rendering an accountingof the expenses of the American peace delegation from December 1. 1913. to June 30. 1919. The expenses already accounted for will total J1.506.776.S3. he said.
